In this update, we’re introducing
new editor features that support structured writing,
enhanced settings for a more customizable writing environment,
and an announcement regarding the end of the image generation beta.
You can now create and edit tables directly in the editor, making it easier to organize information and structure your writing.
Flexible editing
After inserting a table, you can freely add or remove rows and columns.

We have decided to end the beta for the image generation feature.
The feature was available for approximately one week, during which we received valuable feedback from many users.
As a tool built for writers, Novela places the highest priority on respecting creators and the creative ecosystem.
Through the beta, we confirmed that image generation AI raises significant concerns around training data and copyright, and that the current implementation does not yet meet the standards we believe are necessary.
For this reason, we have ended the beta and will take time to carefully review the feedback and copyright-related considerations.
We will revisit this feature at a more prepared and responsible point in the future.
You now have more control over the width and layout of the writing canvas.
Custom width input
Instead of choosing only preset sizes, you can now enter a custom width between 200px and 2000px, allowing finer control based on your workspace.
New size presets added
Paperwhite mode: Optimized for e-reader viewing
A5 size: A commonly used print format for publishing
You can preview how your writing will look in these formats while you work.
🔧 Stability & Minor Improvements
Improved Split View Usability
Fixed an issue where the screen would flicker when resizing split view.
Font Size Adjustment Improvements
Added buttons to increase or decrease font size in +1 / −1 increments.

Text & Background Color Usability Improvements
Custom colors are now automatically saved to the color palette.
We’ve also fixed several bugs related to color application.

Stronger Default Settings for New Documents
In addition to font family and size, you can now set font color and paragraph alignment as default values for new documents.

As you build characters and develop scenes,
there are moments when having a clear visual reference becomes helpful.
To help you stay focused on character development,
we’ve created an image generation feature designed to support your creative flow.
Simply enter a few key traits,
and the AI will turn them into a single character image.
The generated images can be freely used as:
Reference material for organizing character concepts
A visual guide for setting the tone of your work
Simple illustrations
The image generation feature is currently available in beta,
and we will continue to improve it based on user feedback.
After opening the AI chat, click the “Generate Image” button.

You can also start from a character’s page by clicking
“Generate Character Image.”

In the image description section,
click “Load character info” to load characters you’ve created previously.
When selected, a description suitable for that character will be filled in automatically.

You may also start by writing your own description.
If you find image descriptions difficult,
click the 🪄 icon to get help refining and expanding what you’ve written.

Currently, the following styles are supported:
Anime
Semi-realistic
You can choose from the following aspect ratios:
1:1
9:16
16:9
Each image generation uses 25 usage units,
and it takes approximately 20 seconds to generate an image.
For stable and safe operation of the service,
NSFW content is not supported.
