Even so, since Novella is a program for creators, it doesn't seem like introducing generative AI should be decided lightly just because it's not writing. Image generation AI often uses training data that disregards existing creators' copyrights, and users frequently exploit it in ways that disrespect original creators, leading many creators to harbor resentment. If they truly wish to implement it, they must at least transparently disclose what data was collected and how it was trained to create that AI program.
I started using the free version when AI wasn't common, found it convenient, and later subscribed to the paid version through funding. However, if this is the direction the program is heading, I won't consider renewing my subscription going forward.
