A single newline that appears as multiple newlines when turned on again

The next time I turn on the app, I occasionally see an error that looks like this. I write about 6,000 characters a day, and depending on how far back I go in time, this can happen once or up to three times.

Also, there are times when I leave a space blank, but when I look at it later, there is a single space. Sometimes it doesn't happen and sometimes there is a single space at every newline, so I don't know what is causing this.
